Want some more inspiration?

Have a listen to Louise Bernstein talking about why she’s doing the Mount Franklin Cardiac Challenge 2016. It might be 10 years since her beloved dad died from cardiac issues, but the emotion is still very real for her.
Thank you, Louise, for sharing your story.

What makes a good Rando ride?

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Steve profile pic:smallDo you have it in ya? some would call it a holiday…others would say you need to get a life….
Where does your thinking sit? Long distance carbonised haulage is a fast growing trend in cycling and I cannot think of a better mob than the ‘Kiwi Randonneurs’ …and no I am not referring to a new breed of sheep…hmmm actually now that I think of it, and using a long bow some of our randomised thinking could arrive at that very conclusion….Chickens in Choppers!  …why not “Sheep on Carbon?

Enough with the verbal diarrhea …lets just jump to an expert take on all this, by an expert Randonneur…

What makes a good Rando ride?

Hills or flats? Quiet narrow roads or main roads with wide shoulders?

The bottom line is it doesn’t matter. Randonneuring is a catch bag for cycling: some speed racers like to smash themselves on the aero bars and some social riders like to taste the cream buns at every cafe. But as we all know, the most important thing in life is cycling and any route can be an adventure regardless of the terrain or cafes.

So what is your favourite route? Map it out with RWGPS, pick any Saturday that you’re free and the team at KR will help you organise the ride. It’s really that easy. What are you waiting for?

Vote BACON

Polling Day BrekkyVote BACON politicised not homogenised

By Dave Fellows – the TooMoo220 Classic Man
Has a good ring to it …don’t you think

Jump2 Queenslands TooMoo220

This morning I chose to replace fantasy with symbolism for my breakfast with the following garnish.
Broccoli in a cursory nod to the greens, regardless of your leanings a little is good for you, while too much will result in certain constipation.
Blueberries represent the sweet looking promises that always end up slightly bitter.
Mushrooms for how the political leaders see the voters
The big red strawberry off to the side is there purely to distract you from the main issue, which like most big red strawberries these days will be hollow and devoid of flavour.
A couple of cherries sit precariously on top, just out of reach they will teeter and fall at the slightest change to the make up of the final ensemble
The entire illusion is underpinned by “White Toast”, white toast looks for all the world to be a healthy inclusive brown, yet remains decidedly white on the inside.

There is only one thing in this meal you can rely on to deliver what you need for a fulfilling existence and that my friends is Bacon.

Bacon keeps it’s promises
Bacon won’t lie to you
Bacon is dependable
You can dress it up you can dress it down, but underneath it’s still bacon

So all that is left is to eat it!

Great pic and recipe Dave

Steve has modified this recipe to exclude any political predictions by Dave…actually by the time anyone reads this everyone will know the result.

Ride With Rudy

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_custom_heading text=”Rudy Pospisil Rides the World” font_container=”tag:h2|text_align:center”][vc_custom_heading text=”Aussie is done …” font_container=”tag:h4|text_align:center”][vc_column_text]One man’s journey to inspire and share his story across 30 countries. Follow this incredible challenge as Rudy Pospisil cycles for Cancer Research…

Rudy Down Under:Au:4

“If you ever cycle across Australia: Be warned south of Brisbane along the coast, the flies and bugs are relentless. Worse than Burma or Thailand where the mosquitoes carried Dengue and Malaria. They need protein to breed. They get protein from your tears, saliva, the mucus in your nose — and from blood, if you have any fresh cuts. – I rigged up a cool face bug net after swallowing several flies and one stuck way up my sinus. I think they breed on the cow dung and kangaroo carcasses that litter the roadways in many areas. I minimum speed of 15-20 MPH outruns them a real motivator to keep going. Cycling around the earth for cancer charity, feel free to friend me Rudy Pospisil[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]

Late 2015  I continued my bike ride around the world in my 15th Country, Australia. I started  where the paved road ends near the northernmost point in Australia’s Daintree Rainforest and made my way south   ending 4500 km later in the southernmost point in Melbourne. I now travel to new Zealand to cycle from the southernmost point at Cape Waipapa Point Lighthouse to the northernmost point at Cape Reinga 2200 km and 14000 meters of climbing.
See map and schedule below.
