Kenya & Tanzania Cycle Tour

The best biking adventure in Africa!

Biking far from the tourist routes you will experience Africa at face level – you’ll view wildlife from the saddle of your bike, meet Maasai tribes-people and camp in the wilderness under a cloudless African sky.

Travel at the pace of Africa on this 16 day camping & cycling tour from Nairobi (Kenya) to Dar es Salaam (Tanzania); experience the people, culture, wildlife and landscapes of this amazing continent.  Using remote back roads and visiting local families and villages along the way – our route varies from the chaos of Nairobi city to the sudden sparseness of open savannah with wildlife grazing the plains. We pass beneath the imposing Mt Kilimanjaro, visit Amboseli National Park in Kenya, the Ngorongoro Crater the cool mountain rain forested Usambara Mountains and ultimately the tropical Indian Ocean coast.

Some people choose to extend their trip and follow with a trek of Mt Kilimanjaro or experience the culture and buzz of Zanzibar Island; either of which – we can point you in the right direction.

“Though many riders completed today’s gruelling 112km ride in 3hrs. It was 79yr old John Sommerville who stole the show by never giving up and finishing in a time of over 7hours hard yakka on his bike! While everyone was eating & celebrating prize giving he was still riding, so I thought I’d better go find him… He wasn’t that Far away, so good to see him not giving up and justgetting it done.. “Papa John your an amazeballs, it’s inspirational people like you, that make me realize, I have got no excuses to get out there & keep healthy and active”. Another Big huge Mihi to Wyona Gibbs for being tail-end-Charlie and looking after him. Cape2Kat:0.4Cape2Kat:0.1Its definitely different and it’s definitely Kiwi..almost Kiwiana by bike..way up top and a personality to match the stunning landscapes…how lucky are we as cyclists

Cape2Kat:0 GCongratulations on another oustanding C2K. You have made this event so special & unique. NZC had 17 riders who travelled from Auckland to do this which gives you an idea of how much we really like do this event. Its probably the best weekend away in our yearly calendar of cycling.
The carved Northland trophies for winners and age groupers are very special, but then so are the dozen or more crockpots of delicious foods that are made freely available to us. Its also such a delight to see the local children you inspire who ride this event too, and whom you sponsor.
already looking forward to coming back for next year, and will bring another set of wheels to give away as spot prize.
Thank you phil and wynona for your hospitality, your friendliness & just being you.Cape2Kat:0.5Cape2Kat:0.6Cape2Kat:0.7Cape2Kat:0.10Cape2Kat:0.11Cape2Kat:0.12Cape2Kat:0.13Cape2Kat:0.16Cape2Kat:0.2

It’s Final Wine is in and Water is out!

Wine

A new study says a glass of red wine is the equivalent to an hour at the gym

Research conducted by the University of Alberta in Canada has found that health benefits in resveratrol, a compound found in red wine, are similar to those we get from exercise.
Resveratrol was seen to improve physical performance, heart function and muscle strength in the same way as they’re improved after a gym session.
According to lead researcher, Jason Dyck, these findings will particularly help those who are unable to exercise. Discussion over the health benefits of red wine have been well documented. Studies have revealed that those who drink a glass of red wine a day are less likely to develop dementia or cancer, that it’s good for your heart, anti-ageing and can regulate blood sugar.
We at Bright Side really rejoiced at the news!!

Build Your Vision Build Your Purpose

It is so important to relate, and gain a sense of direction, so sometimes this comes from outside your familiar circles or networks.
Can you relate or learn? OK this is not cycling but a lot of us cycle for a lot of different reasons, and still further a lot of us are searching for inspiration, leadership or something extra to ignite our sense of purpose , passion or vision.

Dave makes a Mountain out of a Molehill

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Dave Fellows Molehill[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]

The Making of a Molehill

By Dave Fellows.

Thats Dave the Too MOOO or Not toMOOOO  Challenge guy! see below one of Queensland’s top up and coming multi day events…
Life it seems is full of challenges, some at random as if the universe has decided to test us or perhaps frustrate us as we go about our daily lives. Most of these challenges are mere molehills we handle in our stride; a small percentage are mountains requiring us to dig deep in order to face them; however again we pretty much manage to get through whatever we are confronted with and usually emerge a better person as a result.

Then there are the challenges we set for ourselves, these may be in any discipline from intellectual to physical however the one thing they have in common is that we have chosen to confront ourselves with the possibility of failure in order to advance ourselves.

This morning I embarked on my challenge, a bike ride surprisingly enough that involved hills followed by hills and then a couple of hills to round out the day, hills have always been mountains to me, they certainly have proven to be more than a challenge on many an occasion. This morning I was feeling even more apprehensive than usual as I was to be riding with a group I knew was laced with some good riders particularly of hills, however I showed up determined to risk failure in order to conquer a mountain.

I decided to look at the days ride in increments rather than the whole, layers if you like, breaking the ride down into bite sized pieces, reducing the mountain to a series of molehills and it worked! as I summited each molehill I looked ahead only to the next molehill which i knew I could achieve in relative comfort.

Molehill by molehill I climbed my mountain.

Excited I decided to reward myself and applied the process to my breakfast but this time in reverse.

Layers of dry Seeded Toast, Bacon, Charr Grilled Peppers for sweetness, Bacon, Avocado for creaminess and Bacon I built a mountain, molehill by molehill.

You too should find your molehill and conquer it, then another and another; pretty soon you’ll have a mountain like this one to reward yourself.

Enjoy
