It’s the original Smiddy Challenge we all know and love—1600 km from Brisbane to Townsville, the spiritual home of Smiddy.

For the first time we’re spreading the Smiddy love a little further, taking in new towns, visiting old friends in welcoming communities and experiencing the Queensland countryside in a truly unique way over 9 life-affirming days.

Ride through deserted outback highways, warm country towns, stunning ranges and farmland.

Meet incredible people—from school kids cheering you in for lunch in central Queensland to country supporters who have been welcoming, feeding and housing Smiddy pelotons for a decade.

A NEW TAKE ON THE TRADITIONAL EUROPEAN RIDES.

We’ve taken what we think are the best elements of a Gran Fondo style race and transplanted this format in to the winterless Sunshine Coast. Fantastic roads and routes, managed roads, King of the Mountain and Sprint stages, all combined with a perfect riding climate and sublime scenery. Off the bike every ride starts and finishes in and around the Maroochydore area, with a dedicated Velo Clubhouse right on the river at Cotton Tree Park, Maroochydore. Open throughout each day and in to the evening for riders, friends and family to relax and share in the experience.
